There is no situation you can't recover from. But, the consolation is that you can play however you wish - It's a sandbox game. :) That should make it easier to get to the Marshall, should he call upon you. It's also likely that, as a new and relatively unproven subject of the King, you'll be given a crappy fief, right on the front-lines. Keep tabs on him, from time to time, as you journey around.ĭuring war, it's also important to watch over your own fief, if you have one. Yes, there are times when it is inconvenient, but you've sworn your oath and are expected to hold by it. When you're at war, be prepared for the Marshall to call on your aid. (Not sure, there, as it's weird and complicated. Or, if they've never seen him, like in the early game, I suppose that could cause that. Remember the above, though! IF the Marshall was recently captured, then released, that sort of resets everything and they won't know where he was until they see him again. But, most Lords/Retainers should know where the Marshall is.

Yes, you did the right thing by asking his retainers. In that situation, or upon release as a prisoner, the game "doesn't know" where the Lord/King happens to be.īut, in any event, make sure to read that message. Unless, and I don't know if it is possible for that quest to be generated in this set of conditions, the Marshall is currently being held prisoner in the prisoner train of an army in the field. The Marshall's position will be given to you in that message, always. It's easy to click off of the message and, sometimes, not all the information that was in the message appears under your Notes/Quests/whatever tab.
